I had my 12 week appointment with the midwife two weeks ago and heard the baby’s heartbeat. That was reassuring for me because I know after that the chances of miscarrying go down very significantly. This baby happened way faster and more easily than I expected, so part of me was afraid that it was too easy and therefore something might be more likely to go wrong (logical, huh!?) While I do know that things can go wrong at any point, I’m glad we’re past many of the risks by this point.
The tiredness is gradually lessening. At week 13, I felt about as tired as I had before, but was sleeping an hour or two less each night. At week 14, I was tired but much more functional. This week, I feel pretty normal (well, as long as I get 9 hours of sleep), and I’m able to walk again at a good pace for more than 15 minutes at a time – hurray! The little bit of nausea that I had is pretty much gone.
I’m up about 4 pounds and my belly is starting to poke out just a tad. Most of my normal pants are too snug, but I have a couple pairs of jeans that were a little big before, so they’re fitting comfortably enough to manage for now. I took a 10 week picture to make sure I had a good before, but didn’t take another until 14 weeks (well, yesterday, so I could finally post this), since there was nothing really to show. There’s still not much to show, but there is a difference (10 weeks on the left, 14 on the right):
My mom is coming in a couple weeks to go shopping with me (and I get to see her new red Prius too!) She’ll be able to stay long enough to come to my 16 week midwife appointment, which should be fun.
I’ve had a handful of belly rubs so far, even though there’s nothing there to feel yet. I don’t know what it is that makes everybody want to touch a pregnant lady’s belly, but I feel the same overwhelming urge! I’m a fairly touchy-feely-huggy person, so I don’t think I’ll mind too much, but I still think it’s odd.
We’re looking into options for natural childbirth classes, to make sure that we have enough time to make a decision and get registered as they tend to fill up early. If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know!

Yep, you're definitely past the most common risks once you're through that first trimester. :) Hooray, and hooray that the nausea and tiredness is gone! Now make sure you enjoy your energy before it goes away again!! LOL
I am glad to see your update. There is just something about touching that belly! I know that my favorite part of being pregnant was feeling the baby move. I guess that never goes away...or at least it never did for me! Wait till your friends start talking to your belly!
What a cute start to your pregnant tummy! Just a note to help your pre-pregnancy jeans a tad longer- hair ties. Just loop one end into the hole and the other around the button; it'll give u a little extra breathing room for a few more weeks!
My attempts at a natural childbirth were futile. But, I have heard awesome things about the Bradley Method and would have pursued that more if we wouldn't have been moving around at the time we would have needed to start (which is the second trimester, early to middle I think). One of the chiropractors I used to work for used this method and really enjoyed it (well, coming from HIS point of view) and I researched it a bit and I thought it sounded awesome. Aside from that, I could only recommend NOT using my anesthesiologist. I'm guessing since you're seeing a Midwife that she would be very supportive, encouraging and helpful in your search for effective childbirth classes. There's always a Doula too. Oh, maybe even start, compiling scriptures, whether in a journal or note cards, whatever, that give you strength and peace! I am glad to hear that your mum is able to come and visit!
Hugs and love and prayer!

You look so cute! I'm glad that you're taking pictures of your belly. I didn't and it makes me sad. Well, we were planning on a photo shoot one weekend, but then Michael was born.
I also wish I would have done more research on the drugs available. I'm so happy to hear other people are researching it. I had an epidural with Michael. That was pretty good for me. With Maggie I had nubane (sp). Horrible horrible horrible.
Childbirth, for me, is one of those things that I wish I would have known the outcome before going into it. I probably wouldn't have had anything with both kids if I had known how quick it was going to be. Oh well.
I did try the hairband trick yesterday and it worked pretty well. I was tired of wearing the same pair of jeans that don't really fit over and over, so I found my one shirt long enough to cover the zipper and it worked perfectly! Well, I was pulling my pants up here and there, but actually less than with the pair that was too big :) Thanks for the tip!
Aww! Your baby belly is precious! I highly recommend Bradley birthing classes. They are phenomenal, and are worth every penny. Blessings!
Oh my goodness, HONGERA Sarah! Ninakufurahia (can I say that?) sana! What exciting news :) I realized I'd not been by your blog for a few months so I decided to check it out, only to see this thrilling post. So, so wonderful. Congratulations, again!
